Mid-Atlantic Media is seeking an editor for Baltimore Style who will knock our socks off. You will dazzle us with your storytelling ability and your social media savvy will take our company and all of its publications to the next level.

Pressure is your companion and you will shift effortlessly between writing a 2,000-word think piece, editing a 200-word blurb and mentoring a young and eager writers. You are personable, possess a strong voice and are well-versed on happenings in the Baltimore-Washington corridor. Being out and about is how you roll. The ability to juggle multiple projects, and the willingness to help shape multiple publications and online experience is a must.

The successful candidate will be both a self-starter and team player possessing the ability to write about a variety of lifestyle topics, including food, health, arts/entertainment, technology, women’s issues, education, family life, home/garden and local, regional and national trends. It is expected that you will participate and contribute to the other publication titles and products within Mid-Atlantic Media, especially as an editor and writing coach, as requested.

Required skills and experience

This is a position that is heavy on both writing and editing. The successful candidate will:

  • Ability and willingness to wear many hats, from high-level editorial strategy down to shoe-leather journalism and in-person community engagement
  • Work closely with the editorial director and publishers
  • Possess the ability to write reported stories using a unique voice while maintaining objectivity
  • Be able to produce daily posts to the company’s various websites
  • Learn quickly and adapt well to change
  • Be experienced in basic HTML and possess experience working within an online publishing platform
  • Have experience fact-checking and copyediting
  • Possess a relevant four-year college degree with eight years of experience.

SEO and video production knowledge is a plus.
